Why High-Functioning People Seek This Work

Many of my clients appear capable and composed on the outside.

But internally they’re managing a level of pressure, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion that rarely gets spoken about.

If you’ve landed on this page, chances are you’re carrying more stress than most people around you realize.

From the outside, you may appear capable — even successful.

But internally, things can feel very different.

You might be managing:

  • constant mental pressure to perform or “hold it together”
  • chronic anxiety that never fully switches off
  • emotional exhaustion that doesn’t improve with rest
  • a harsh inner critic that always pushes you to do more

Many people try to push through these patterns for years.

Eventually, the body begins to signal that something needs attention.

The good news is this:

Your nervous system can learn to feel safe again.

And when that happens, many of the patterns you’ve been struggling with begin to soften naturally.

If This Sounds Familiar, You're In The Right Place

Maybe you've noticed:

  • Your chest feels tight before you even get out of bed
  • You're “fine” in public but completely drained in private
  • Your thoughts loop the same worries — especially late at night
  • You snap at people you care about, then regret it later
  • You avoid situations that might trigger stress
  • Your inner critic is never satisfied, no matter how much you achieve
  • You carry constant pressure to perform, provide, or prove yourself
  • Tension lives in your jaw, shoulders, or back
  • Everyone thinks you have it together, but inside you're barely holding on

You might even catch yourself thinking:

“Other people have been through worse. I should be able to handle this.”

If you’re seeing yourself in these words, it doesn’t mean you’re weak.

It means your nervous system has been working very hard for a very long time.

And nervous systems can learn new patterns.

This Isn't a Character Flaw

Many people assume anxiety or emotional overwhelm means something is wrong with them.

But what’s usually happening is much simpler.

Your nervous system has become stuck in a state of over-activation.

When that happens, the body stays on alert — even when there is no immediate threat.

This isn’t a personal failure.

It’s simply how human biology responds after prolonged stress, pressure, criticism, or emotional responsibility.

The encouraging part is this:

Nervous systems can recalibrate.

When the body finally feels safe enough to relax, many of the patterns connected to anxiety and emotional exhaustion begin to shift naturally.

Think of It Like a Smoke Alarm

Imagine a smoke alarm that keeps going off even though there’s no fire.

Trying harder to ignore the alarm doesn’t solve the problem.

The sensor needs recalibration.

When anxiety patterns become chronic, something similar can happen inside the nervous system.

Your body keeps reacting as if danger is present — even when your logical mind knows you’re safe.

Instead of trying to override those reactions with willpower, our work focuses on helping your system settle and reset.

Why Trauma-Informed EFT Works

Clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a gentle, evidence-based method that helps the nervous system release stored stress.

During a session, we combine focused awareness with light tapping on specific acupressure points.

These signals help the brain shift out of stress responses and into a calmer, more regulated state.

Over time, this process can help:

  • reduce the intensity of anxiety and hypervigilance
  • loosen the grip of painful memories or beliefs
  • soften patterns of self-criticism
  • create space for calm, clarity, and conscious choice

Clinical EFT has been studied in more than 100 peer-reviewed research studies and is widely recognized as an evidence-based approach for anxiety, PTSD, and depression.

What Often Changes When the Nervous System Settles

As the nervous system begins to regulate, many clients start to notice meaningful shifts in everyday life.

Over time, you may experience:

  • responding to stress instead of reacting automatically
  • your body relaxing without needing to numb out or push through
  • deeper, more restorative sleep
  • clearer thinking in challenging situations
  • boundaries that feel natural rather than forced
  • a kinder, more supportive inner voice

Real change becomes possible when the body finally feels safe enough to let go of old patterns.

What Our Sessions Are Actually Like

Grounded in Science, Delivered with Care

Many people come to this work wanting support and guidance — while still wanting to feel in control of their own process.

Our sessions are designed to feel steady, thoughtful, and manageable.

When clients begin ongoing coaching, we develop a Personal Clarity & Change Plan together.

This helps us identify the patterns, stressors, and goals that matter most, so our work stays focused and meaningful.

Coach Kristin 'Kay' Kraggerud leading an EFT session

A typical session usually follows a structure like this:

1. We start with what feels most important that day

We begin with a simple check-in so we can focus on what is most relevant or pressing for you.

2. We create a sense of steadiness first

Before going deeper into the issue, we help your system settle so the session feels calm, grounded, and workable.

3. We gently work through what’s creating stress or stuckness

Using EFT tapping and guided coaching, we gently reduce the emotional charge connected to what you're facing.

4. We move at a pace that respects your boundaries

You are never pushed or rushed. Your comfort, timing, and readiness always guide the process.

5. We close with clarity and grounding

Sessions are designed to leave you feeling clearer, steadier, and better equipped to move forward.

There is space for whatever shows up — questions, reflection, emotion, relief, or even moments of lightness.

You don’t have to perform or “get it right.”

This is your process.

How We Can Work Together

Different people come to this work with different needs—and different levels of bandwidth.

Most people do best with continuity if this has been building for years. When your nervous system has been “on” for a long time, meaningful change usually comes from having enough space to (1) settle the body, (2) work with what’s underneath the stress, and (3) practise responding differently between sessions—without rushing you through it.

At the same time, if you’re newer to EFT, a single session can be a gentle way to experience the process and see how it feels in your body—before you commit to anything more structured.

Below are the most common ways clients choose to work with me.

What Clients Often Discover

Many people begin this work feeling skeptical, overwhelmed, or unsure whether change is really possible—especially if you’ve been “the capable one” for a long time.

Here’s one example of what that shift can look like:

S.P., Entrepreneur

Feb 2026

“When someone first suggested EFT for the stress I was dealing with, I was skeptical. But after a major business setback and watching my health decline in the process, I was out of options. The constant chest tightness and disrupted sleep—I knew something had to change.

I'll be honest—I didn't think EFT was for guys like me. But the approach Kay uses is science-backed and practical. No drama, no reliving the worst moments—just a clear method that actually worked. The physical tension I'd been carrying for months started to lift. I could think clearly again—make decisions without the constant fog of anxiety.

If you’re on the fence about whether this is ‘for you,’ I’d say just book the discovery call. It’s not what you think it is—and it works.”

If you’re reading this and something in you recognizes these patterns…
you don’t need to wait for things to get worse before you begin.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach — you can begin in a way that feels manageable.

You might recognize yourself in one of these:

  • “I’m ready for steady progress with structure.” → Begin with the program most clients choose
  • “I need more consistent, higher-touch support right now.” → Explore extended support

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s natural to have questions before beginning something new.

Below are answers to some of the most common questions about EFT coaching, sessions, and how the process works.

What exactly is Clinical EFT, and how is it different from regular EFT or the “tapping videos” I’ve seen online?

Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is the evidence-based form of tapping — supported by more than 100 peer-reviewed studies. It follows a clear, structured protocol that combines gentle tapping on specific acupoints with focused cognitive steps to calm the body’s stress response and create measurable, lasting change.

All EFT is tapping — but not all tapping is EFT.

Many “tapping videos” online offer simplified versions that can still feel soothing but may not follow the full, research-backed process. Clinical EFT is taught and practiced by certified practitioners trained research based protocols and ethical standards.

As an Advanced Practitioner certified through EFT International and EFT Universe, I use Clinical EFT to help clients safely release stress, anxiety, and emotional patterns stored in the body — supporting long-term regulation and emotional freedom, not just temporary relief.

How do I know if EFT is right for me?

EFT works best for people who:

  • Feel stuck in patterns they can't think their way out of
  • Experience chronic stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm
  • Want a body-based approach that doesn't require reliving trauma
  • Are ready to do the work (this isn't passive—you'll have tools to practice)

EFT may not be the right fit if you're:

  • In active crisis (suicidal ideation, severe dissociation, or acute psychosis—please seek crisis support first)
  • Looking for a quick fix or someone to "fix" you without your participation
  • Unwilling to explore the deeper roots of your patterns

If you're unsure, that's what the free discovery call is for. We'll talk honestly about whether this approach matches what you need right now. If it's not the right fit, I'll point you toward resources that are.

Is this approach safe for someone with a trauma history?

Absolutely. My training specifically includes trauma-informed approaches and Inner Child Work. Clinical EFT is designed to be gentle and allows you to process difficult emotions at your own pace. You remain in complete control throughout our sessions, and we work within your window of tolerance to ensure you feel safe and supported.

What to expect in sessions?

Each session is scheduled in a 90-minute container, giving us the flexibility to follow your nervous system's pace without watching the clock. We use what we need—typically 60–90 minutes—and I never rush you through a breakthrough moment.

You won't be asked to relive traumatic memories in detail or force yourself into positive thinking that doesn't feel true. Instead, we'll work directly with what your body is holding, using gentle tapping techniques that signal safety to your nervous system.

Between sessions, you'll have simple practices to use when stress arises—so you're not dependent on me to feel regulated.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 90 minutes so we can regulate first, do the work, and close grounded—without rushing.

How long does it take to feel better? I've tried other approaches that didn't work.

I understand the exhaustion of investing time, money, and hope into something that didn't deliver. Here's what's realistic:

Immediate relief (Session 1): Most clients report feeling noticeably calmer after the first session. It's often the first time in months—or years—their nervous system has felt genuinely safe enough to exhale.

Noticeable shifts (3–6 sessions): You'll likely notice you're responding to stress differently. Maybe you set a boundary without the usual guilt, or your body doesn't tense up when a specific trigger happens.

Lasting recalibration (6–9 sessions over 8–12 weeks): This is when most clients experience sustainable change—where calm becomes your baseline instead of something you have to "work for" every day.

That said, your nervous system sets the pace, not a rigid timeline. Some clients address their core patterns in 4 sessions; others need 12+ to work through layered trauma. We'll check in regularly so you know where you are and where we're going.

You won't be stuck in endless sessions wondering if it's "working." You'll feel the shifts.

How does Clinical EFT compare to traditional therapy, CBT, and life coaching?

Unlike talk therapy that works intellectually or generic life coaching, Clinical EFT works directly with your body's stress response system. There are 8 studies directly comparing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to Clinical EFT, and these show that Clinical EFT is either equivalent to or more effective than CBT. However, EFT achieves these similar results in significantly less time. This means you can experience meaningful change without the lengthy commitment traditional therapy often requires—perfect for busy people who need effective solutions that fit their lives.

Is this confidential? What are your professional boundaries?

Complete confidentiality is fundamental to my practice. What we discuss stays between us, following professional ethical standards. I maintain clear boundaries as a practitioner—I'm here to support your emotional well-being, not provide medical or psychological diagnosis. If deeper therapeutic work is needed, I'll help you find appropriate resources.

Do you offer virtual sessions, and how does that work?

Yes, I offer secure virtual sessions that are just as effective as in-person work. Clinical EFT translates beautifully to online sessions—you'll be in your own comfortable space, and I'll guide you through everything step by step. All you need is a quiet space and reliable internet connection.

What's the next step?

Book a free 15-minute discovery call. We'll talk about what you'r e experiencing, I'll explain how EFT can help, and you'll know if this is the right fit. No pressure, no obligation—just clarity.

What Clients Experience

Many people arrive feeling skeptical, overwhelmed, or unsure whether change is possible.

Here are a few reflections from people who have experienced this work firsthand.

Tina D.

July 2024

"Twenty years ago, I used EFT to overcome a debilitating injection/needle phobia, and the results were incredible, I am cured.

Working with Kay this time on emotional challenges, I have noticed significant benefits, including the release of emotional weight, starting to do tapping on my own when feeling triggered, and a greater sense of inner peace."

Lauren K.

April 2022

"Working with Coach Kay helped me find clarity after a dark period. Her gentle approach helped me heal and opened doors I never thought possible."

Liz Bisbee

March 2023

"While I had done short EFT sessions via app and YouTube before, this was very different. Kay uses questioning and her own instincts to find the heart of the issue being discussed. She then designs a program to fit the situation, using heart, connection, and EFT skills to help her client shift energy and thinking to a more positive place. I am so grateful for the opportunity to experience EFT at the hands of a skilled practitioner."

Michelle

June 2025

"I really love the sense of clarity that I gain from my EFT sessions with Kay. No matter what technique we use, Kay's calm guidance always creates ease and flow for me. Since starting, I've noticed fewer looping thoughts, a clearer mind, and a stronger connection to myself."
